The original oil painting of “Friends to the Rescue”, by Lori Levin, is now being professionally printed and boxed as beautiful 4" x 5.6" note cards with envelopes. Soulful Studios will be donating $2.00 to the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation for every boxed set of 10 note cards sold. This image was inspired by the brave humans and canines of the NDSDF. It takes $10,000 to raise and train just one search dog that saves so many lives in disasters like 9-11 and Hurricane Katrina. The price for a boxed set of cards is $18.00 plus shipping.
Founded following the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, the NDSDF is the only organization that rescues, trains and pairs professionally-trained dogs with firefighters at no cost to the firefighters. These FEMA certified disaster teams are a valuable resource for communities across the nation. NDSDF dogs were a key part of the recovery efforts at New York's Ground Zero. According to FEMA, only one third of the minimum 300 advanced certified canine search teams that are needed in this country exist. The NDSDF has responded to this urgent need by expanding their program to train 20 dogs this year as compared to three or four dogs in years past.
